Eebeeb

Tim and I were both working on our computers tonight when I got up to go to bed. I decided to check on the fish first so I looked in the tank saw Bahbeesh but I didn't see Eebeeb (see our site for the update about Eebeeb). I looked around on the desk and on the floor and I couldn't find him anywhere.

I told Tim to come out and look at the tank, he looked in--"Aw man, I wanted to see a fish eat another one." I just thought we had a suicidal Eebeeb but Tim thought that we had a canabalizing Bahbeesh. We looked around some more and finally found Eebeeb under a part of the desk looking very dead.

So we got the directions to the new tank out again to figure out how to close the lid around the filter which we couldn't do before, we worked on that for a little while then we had to figure out how to get Eebeeb out from under the desk. So I went and got a long spoon, scooped him up and dropped him in the toilet. I was just about to flush it when Eebeeb started swimming around. WHAT THE???? I know that is what you are thinking because that is what we were thinking too. We both stood there staring into the toilet at Eebeeb...swimming...not really believing our eyes.

So I used that same spoon and took Eebeeb back to the tank and dropped him in, then I noticed that he was covered in dust so I had to get that off. So Eebeeb is strangely alive and dust free tonight. I don't think that I will ever forget this fish.

(We have no idea how long he was down there but it was at least 5 minutes between the time that I noticed that he was missing to when we dropped him in the toilet.)

Sad

We got a letter today from the US Embassy in London, where we were trying to get our visa. They said that because I had just arrived in the UK in August and are already planning on going back, we can't apply for the visa through them. Which is a pain because going through the US is a way more complicated ordeal and takes WAY WAY longer. I think we're going to look into it more and see if we can convince them to let us do it through the Embassy. Otherwise we're stuck with the US system.

Research Assistant

I've applied to be a research assistant. Its researching mobility in children and what is available for children with limited mobility. Its only 21 hours a week, but the pay is considerably better than what I'm making now. So I'll get more money for less hours of work. Which means we would have plenty of money to save for our move back to CA, and we might even have some leftover to go traveling with. Plus, I wouldn't have to work evenings or weekends, which would be WONDERFUL! And I wouldn't be so stressed all the time and I'm sure I would like it more than my job at the moment. And it would be great experience. I've always wanted to do research, just to see what it was like and if I liked it. And I'm so tired of my job at the moment. I keep hoping it will get better but it just keeps getting worse. I really hope I get this job. I should know if I got an interview in a week or so.

Cork

We went to Cork last weekend. Andrew had a hockey tournament, the championships, and then we stayed a couple extra days to explore. Andrew's team did really well. They played the best i've ever seen them play. They won their first 3 games, and then lost the last one 2-9 to the Rebels. But that was enough to get them in the final, against the Rebels again. Andrew's team played extremely well and nearly won, but lost 3-4. It was really really close though. They dominated the last part of the game and if it went on longer probably would've won. It was very exciting to watch.

Then on Monday we went into Cork and explored the city a bit. Its a nice city, but nothing too exciting. Then we went to Cobh ("Cove") for lunch. Its a cute town right on the ocean and was the last place the Titanic stopped before sailing to America. Then we went to Blarny Castle, which was very fun. It's really big and has loads of hidden rooms and crazy staircases and you can go wherever you want. And at the very top of the castle, after going up a very steep spiral staircase, you get to the blarney stone. And to kiss it you have to lie on your back and then inch yourself over the edge and lean down backward to kiss it. Its very fun. And there's a really nice rock garden with little caves and good climbing trees. Then on Tuesday we went to anther castle type thing, the Rock of Cashel, but it wasn't nearly as good. Then we drove home. It was a good weekend.

last week

This will be my last week with Pajaro. Then as soon as my finger prints are cleared and all the paper work is taken care of I will start my new job with Easter Seals. I am really excited about this, it sounds like it will be a fun and rewarding job and they pay is better. I will be working slightly longer hours but I think that it will be worth it and now that Caleb is older I feel that I can take those extra hours. Hopefully this week will fly by, but I have a feeling that it will drag on as I look forward to Friday.

Big Kid

Caleb is doing it all these days...walking, signing, swimming and talking. He is now almost a full time walker and is doing less and less crawling everyday. He knows the signs for "more", "milk" and "all done/finished/all gone" (those are all the same sign) and then he has made up a few of his own signs as well. Caleb and I are also in a parent & baby swim class 2 times a week. He is learning to float, splash and blow bubbles, which he did in the bath last night on his own. Now Caleb does a lot of talking, the main problem is that it isn't in English. It sounds like a mixture of Russian, Chinese, French and one of those African clicking languages that I don't know the name of. We don't know where he learned all those other languages, but he must be smart if he is already trying to master all of them =)

So I think that Caleb has moved on the the toddler stage of life and is out of the baby stage. We will be putting up a movie of him walking on the site soon but he seems to get jello legs everytime we get the camera out.
