Cork

We went to Cork last weekend. Andrew had a hockey tournament, the championships, and then we stayed a couple extra days to explore. Andrew's team did really well. They played the best i've ever seen them play. They won their first 3 games, and then lost the last one 2-9 to the Rebels. But that was enough to get them in the final, against the Rebels again. Andrew's team played extremely well and nearly won, but lost 3-4. It was really really close though. They dominated the last part of the game and if it went on longer probably would've won. It was very exciting to watch.

Then on Monday we went into Cork and explored the city a bit. Its a nice city, but nothing too exciting. Then we went to Cobh ("Cove") for lunch. Its a cute town right on the ocean and was the last place the Titanic stopped before sailing to America. Then we went to Blarny Castle, which was very fun. It's really big and has loads of hidden rooms and crazy staircases and you can go wherever you want. And at the very top of the castle, after going up a very steep spiral staircase, you get to the blarney stone. And to kiss it you have to lie on your back and then inch yourself over the edge and lean down backward to kiss it. Its very fun. And there's a really nice rock garden with little caves and good climbing trees. Then on Tuesday we went to anther castle type thing, the Rock of Cashel, but it wasn't nearly as good. Then we drove home. It was a good weekend.

Wow, the Blarney Castle sounds really fun! Did you get pictures? I'd love to show Nannie one of you kissing the Blarney stone as she always wanted to do that. Congratulations to Andrew and his team. That's awesome that they did that well. How was the drive? Pretty?

We lost 2-9, because we didn't need to win that game to get into the final, as we had already booked our place by winning the three previous games, so we used our back-up netminder for the last half of the game, and also held something back. We had to play that team later on, so we were trying to work out how to play and win against them and save some energy too. It nearly worked :o)

We forgot to bring our camera, so we dont have any pictures of the weekend at all :o( Although there was a photographer at Blaney Castle charging exorbitant amounts for a small photo, which we decided against, since all we would have seen was the bottom of our chin probably.

Here is a link to the castle's website.

It is weird for me to think about going on a vacation without someone with a camera...I can't think of the last time that we went anywhere without Tim having his camera.
