Caleb's Birthday Week

Caleb has had a fun week this week.

Sunday was his birthday party which was a lot of fun. We had 20+ people there. We ate pizza, watched Caleb (and his helpers Eli, Ryder & Katie) open presents, ate cake and had a good time talking and watching the kids.

Monday was Caleb's actual birthday and Presidents day so Tim got the day off. The first half of the day was spent playing with all the new toys. Then that afternoon we decided to take Caleb to his first movie. We met Nana, Papa and Laurel at the theater and we watched Curious George. Caleb did great. We got him a booster seat so that he could see better and brought some cookies along with us. Caleb sat through the whole movie and only took his eyes off when he noticed that Nana & Papa were there and then when there was a crying baby in the back he wanted to make sure that I knew that someone was crying. Then afterwards we decided to go out to dinner at a place that probably most 2 year olds go on their birthday...99 Bottles.

Tuesday Caleb got more presents in the mail from Lolo, Lola, Rachel, Auntie Irma and Uncle Dave.

Wednesday was playgroup day so during circle time we all sang Happy Birthday to Caleb, and he wanted to sing more. Then afterwards he got his present from Kristen who didn't make it to the party on Sunday.

Thursday night Caleb got to spend the night with Nana & Papa while Tim and I went to see the Lion King.

Friday night we went out to dinner and then headed over to the HP Pavilion to see Disney On Ice - Finding Nemo. When Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy came out at the beginning Caleb got really excited and that excitement kept going throughout the whole night. He would yell Nemo when he saw Nemo (or Marlin). We watched part of the movie earlier that afternoon to get him ready for the show and at one part he said "movie?" He really liked the show and it held his attention the whole time. He was tired at the end of it but still wanted to watch everything and would clap and say "YEA!" whenever anyone else did.

Saturday we went to a Birthday party that had a lot of other kids there and Caleb had a great time playing with the other kids and he got to eat more cake.

So overall Caleb has had a very good birthday week. He got a lot of cool new presents, got to see his first movie and first big show, play with a lot of kids, and eat cake, which might be his new favorite food.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I just wanted to tell everyone Happy Valentine's Day and figured that this would be the easiest way. I also decided I should maybe do a little update. I am doing really well and the semester has been going great. I am working at an Elementary school for my internship and I love it! I am also really enjoying being an RA. I feel like I have gotten a lot more time with the guys in my section already. I'm also still doing NSTEP (the hip hop group) and it has been really fun lately. I am going to be working at IT again starting on Thursday, so it will be nice to have some income again and also have a place to do some more homework. This weekend I am going home and some friends are going as well. I think that it will be really fun. I am also seeing Lion King with Mom, Dad, and Amy. I am so excited! Happy Valentine's Day! I am 22 and a half today! Yippee!

my birthday part 2

On Saturday morning, Andrew brought me breakfast in bed. Then we got the house all ready for the party and then went to Belfast to do some shopping.

Jonny, Suzanne and Darran came over about 5:30 and brought Chinese food with them for dinner. Then we all got ready for the party and Andrew got the bar area ready for his first attempts at cocktail making. Andrew (aka Pro, a lawyer) and Darran (aka Count Ali, a mystery writer) wore tuxes which were kindly borrowed from Linleys. Suzanne had a red evening dress, feather boa, and long gloves (she was Randy, an actress). Jonny wore tweed trousers, a blue button up shirt, big glasses, and a white lab coat and even tried to comb his hair over to one side despite the fact that its less than a quarter inch long (he was a Dr.) I had a grey tweed skirt, a lace-high neck top, pearls and glasses hanging around my neck (I was a personal secretary, uptight type).

Colin, Davina and Bryan arrived about 7:15. Davina had a black evening gown, and feathers in here hair and lots of fake diamond jewellry (she was Flo, a rich wife of Donny). Bryan didn't dress up (he was Donny, a banker). Colin had on a military jacket, because he thought he was a soldier, but he was actually a hiker named Rog, an illegitimate son of the guy who died.

We played the first round, and everybody got really into it and asked for paper and pens to keep notes. And then when we went to get more drinks and food, they kept telling us to hurry so we could start the next round. So that was good. After the 3rd round, we had some hot finger foods. Everybody was really interested in all the facts and made sure they got their information out. Bryan sat in the corner for most of the night and I honestly can't say if he really played or not. I think he said the things he had to say, but his character was one of the least interesting ones. Although I'm not sure if thats because Bryan didn't get into it as much as other people or if it actually just wasn't an interesting character. Either way, he didn't get as much attention as everyone else. But it was really fun. And everyone seemed to have a really good time. So much so, that everyone was less interested in getting cocktails and more interested in starting the next round so they could keep playing.

Then we had cake and ice cream. I tried to make a cake from scratch from a recipe i got off the internet I think. It looked really good at first until I cut into it and realized it was super-thick. It didn't rise at all, just cooked like it was, which was really really thick. But it still tasted really good, like cake should taste. It just wasn't soft and fluffy, at all. I asked who wanted some before I cut it and only Davina, Darren, Andrew and I did. And we all ate it and liked it, but no one else would try it. Oh well. All the more for Andrew and I later.

Davina, Bryan and Euphrates got me a new book and some jelly bellys. Suzanne and Jonny got me a necklace and earrings set. Colin, Darran, Billy and Muriel got me a guestbook, and a notepad. And Muriel gave us some cookies and shortbread that she made.

I think thats it. It was really fun. And now I'm old enough to rent cars. Yippee!

my birthday part 1

On Friday night, the 3rd, we went out to dinner with Colin, Sharon, Gill, Steve and Jenny. We went to a place in Donaghadee and it was really really good. I got steak, along with everyone else except Jenny and Gill. Everybody else had theirs medium to medium-well done, which is how most people here would have it. But I got mine medium-rare and it was soooooo good. I haven't had steak cooked that way in a long time and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I got a new coat from Andrew, which I thoughtfully helped him pick out. Its a good rain/cold weather coat. But its not too warm, so I'll still wear it in California. My red sessions coat is really like two sizes too big for me, so I haven't been wearing it as much and I needed a good rainproof coat. I still haven't decided what to do with my red coat though because I still love it even though I don't wear it very often.
Gill and Steve got me a recipe holder so i can write new recipes in it. And they got me Sideways (the movie). Jenny got me Jose Gonzalez (a CD). Sharon and Colin gave me a ticket for a night out with the girls on the 3rd of March to see Mama Mia. So thats very fun!
