Sad

We got a letter today from the US Embassy in London, where we were trying to get our visa. They said that because I had just arrived in the UK in August and are already planning on going back, we can't apply for the visa through them. Which is a pain because going through the US is a way more complicated ordeal and takes WAY WAY longer. I think we're going to look into it more and see if we can convince them to let us do it through the Embassy. Otherwise we're stuck with the US system.

so you have to stay for more then a year to get a visa? That sucks. So when you get some time off you should go to London and spend your time in the embassy bugging them to get your visa.

Yeah, it sucks. It has something to do with the amount of time Brittany has been here, but the actual ruling that would allow us to DCF (file directly with the London embassy) is open to interpretation by whoever dealt with our case in the embassy. If they are busy at the time, they tell you just to file with your relative service centre in the states (of which there are 4). The process is exactly the same, just the distances involved and busy-ness of the service centres slows down the process. After the petition is approved, our application moves to the National Visa Centre, for further processing, and then finally moved back to the embassy in London, where i get called for my interview. DCF just cuts out all the overseas stuff and does the whole process quickly in-house. It sucks we can't do it.

We hope to send the stuff off by next weekend, and the timescale for getting the visa goes from around 2 months to a minimum of 6-8 months. Prayers for a quick and speedy processing of our application would be greatly appreciated.
